Through the Women Lead in Emergency project, representatives from four women’s church groups have been engaged in a community based First Aid Training.
At the beginning of October – men, women and youths’ representatives of four community women’s groups; Kofiloko, New Valley, Tuvaruhu zone 2 and Vura parish, were engaged in a community based First Aid Training conducted by Solomon Islands Red Cross Society.
The Women Lead in Emergency program is working to ensure that disaster preparedness is essential and inclusive within a community setting, by involving them in preparedness activities so that they can save lives.
The training covered basic lifesaving skills and how to provide immediate attention and action to a sick or injured person. First Aid Training emphasis on empowering people to save lives, ensures our workplaces and communities are safer and more resilient. Knowing what to do and being confident to intervene, to help someone who is hurt, is an important skill.
The training helps participants create awareness, share skills and knowledge on saving lives, and build confidence to be ready to act during the time of emergencies.
The beneficiaries include church leaders, women leaders, youth, and women and girls who are directly beneficiaries of the project Committees. The community representatives and participants acknowledge the importance of this training as it was the first of its kind.
Well done to everyone who participated in this training!
We thank the Red Cross for the trainings they provide and look forward to the next refresher training.
