CARE Australia statement following the appointment of new ministers to government

September 5, 2018 by

CARE Australia’s Chief Executive, Sally Moyle, has written to congratulate Senator the Hon. Marise Payne and Senator the Hon. Anne Ruston on their appointments as the new Minister for Foreign Affairs and Assistant Minister for International Development and the Pacific, respectively.

Ms Moyle said she looked forward to working with both women to strengthen Australia’s aid program and engagement with the world.

“Australia’s aid program is a powerful mechanism for shaping a world that is fairer and more just, more peaceful and more prosperous” Ms Moyle said.

“CARE has broad and deep experience in supporting women peacemakers around the world and addressing the gendered dimensions of humanitarian crises for sustainable and impactful change.”

“As an organisation dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls globally through our development work, I hope that we can work together to deepen Australia’s leadership on these issues, which are the cornerstones of effective development.”
