CARE’s work with the garment industry featured in The Sustainability Report in Australia

The work of CARE Australia’s STOP project has been featured in the latest edition of The Sustainability Report, highlighting the potential investment and financial risks of sexual harassment in supply chains.

Project Director Suzi Chinnery discusses why sexual harassment in garment supply chains is a business risk, drawing on many years of evidence from our work in garment factories across Asia, and outlines the role Australian brands and apparel retailers can play in addressing this.

The article comes hot on the heels of the recent Business of Women at Work event, which brought together more than 150 garment industry stakeholders from the region in October 2019.

At the event, which was jointly organized by CARE and Better Work with the support of the Australian Government, industry leaders gathered to discuss solutions to the challenge of violence and harassment within supply chains.

Leading brands are now working with CARE and Better Work to develop a coordinated garment industry response to violence and harassment in the workplace with concrete steps for addressing sexual harassment throughout organisations.
