In response to news reports on the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s (GHF) proposals for distribution of aid inside Gaza, CARE has publicly and privately shared our concerns regarding the food distribution hub mechanism outlined in the GHF proposal. CARE does not support, nor has it agreed to collaborate with GHF or any form of militarisation of aid. We share the position outlined by the recently resigned Executive Director of GHF, Jake Wood, who stated that it was “Not possible to implement this plan while also strictly adhering to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence …”
CARE continues to support the UN-Coordinated plan to immediately resume humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza as it is principled, operationally proven, and immediately ready to re-start large-scale humanitarian aid delivery and life-saving services across the Gaza Strip. The entire population of Gaza is facing into desperate hunger, and CARE will continue to advocate for the UN-Coordinated plan as the best, most immediate mechanism for aid distribution to alleviate the dire needs of the people of Gaza. It is essential that we do not wait for a new, untested, unscaled, and unworkable plan, when we have immediate mechanisms that can and must be deployed.

About CARE Australia
CARE Australia is one member of the global CARE Confederation. CARE Australia supports women and girls around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. We work in partnership with local communities to provide equal opportunities for women and girls to be educated and to earn an income, gain access to essential resources like food, health care and clean water, and to be able to withstand and recover from the increasing
impacts of disasters, conflict and other crises. Our programs focus on women and girls because we know when one woman breaks the cycle of poverty she brings four others with her – and that’s a powerful multiplier of impact.
