Relief efforts in Liberia
CARE restarted programs in Liberia in 2008, having previously worked there for 25 years. Our goal is to foster peace by building a productive, fair and equal society whose members have enough food and a good quality of life. Our programs – which particularly target women and young people – focus on food security, water and sanitation, earning a decent living, and environmentally sustainable farming. We train community members who can then train others, offer technical support where needed, run awareness-raising campaigns (including responding to the 2014 Ebola outbreak), and work alongside the government to build skills and knowledge.
