One Year On: Stories from East Africa

Water, the Elixir of Life: CARE's goal is to provide sufficient quantities of water to the existing and new refugee populations. This includes the maintenance of 20 existing boreholes and over 170 km of pipes. To meet the increasing needs in influx areas, CARE also provides potable water through water trucking services. Proper hygiene is being promoted through hygiene committees from among the refugee population, focusing on hand washing, safe waste disposal and safe water storage and use.
