Gaza and West Bank Humanitarian Appeal

On 7 October 2023, Hamas initiated a large-scale attack on Israel, which sparked a sudden escalation in hostilities between the opposing factions. The Israeli government formally declared war against Hamas and carried out significant airstrikes in Gaza with bombardment continuing relentlessly for the last 18 months.

Your donation could help us provide lifesaving aid

As of 19 April 2025, at least 50,021 Palestinians have been killed and 113,000 have been injured in Gaza. This includes at least 162 journalists and media workers, and over 320 humanitarian workers. Over 401,000 people are estimated to have been displaced from their homes.

The people of Gaza, particularly women and children, are paying the price. Families are living amongst the rubble of their destroyed homes. Famine is not just a risk, but likely rapidly unfolding in almost all parts of Gaza. The UN has warned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is the worst it has been in 18 months.

CARE is working with our partners CARE Palestine, CARE Egypt and CARE Jordan to deliver life-saving aid including the provision of emergency supplies such as; Water, Hygiene Kits, Dignity Kits, Baby Kits, Food Parcels, Bedding, Shelter and Protection.

Children in Gaza deserve to live

CARE and its partner organisation, Juzoor, warn that young children in North Gaza are increasingly at risk of dying of hunger and malnutrition. Children under one year old are being hit the hardest and almost every second baby (45%) is malnourished.

CARE Australia is working with CARE Palestine to deliver aid directly to the people of Gaza and the West Bank. Funds raised in this restricted appeal will be used to respond to this humanitarian crisis. Should circumstances prevent us from delivering this aid directly to Palestine, funds will be used to support CARE’s other humanitarian operations.

Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Should the funds raised through an emergency appeal exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and longer term needs of the people in the affected areas, or if there are changes in circumstances beyond CARE’s control which limit its ability to utilise all funds in the affected areas, CARE will direct excess funds to other emergency relief activities in the future. Monthly donations will go to emergency relief and preparedness activities where it is needed most.
